Appeal for the ratification of the Convention against Human Trafficking (in Polish)2008-02-01 The Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings entered into force on 1 February. The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights sent a letter to Prime Minister Tusk drawing his attention to the necessity for Poland to ratify this Convention. In this letter we point out that despite the fact that Poland meets the minimal standards for eliminating human trafficking, there is still however a great deal to be done from the point of view of victims and counteracting these dealings. In order to make the fight against human trafficking more effective, Poland should speed up plans to ratify this Convention, which determines a series of minimal actions required in the scope of providing aid and protection to the victims.
