Program description

Program was established in 1992. The Program's fundamental activity is to provide cost-free legal advice and assistance to foreigners turning to the Foundation and to undertake litigation actions. The scope of the Program's activity also includes monitoring of the observance of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the provisions of the Geneva Convention of 1951 regarding Refugee Status, the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Liberties and Polish legislation by Polish authorities in cases of foreigners.

Lawyers working within the Program as experts prepare opinions to draft legal acts and programs regarding foreigners and perform informational and training activity regarding the definition of refugee and the rights, to which foreigners are entitled, for various groups of people both from Poland and abroad.

There are 3 projects realized now:

• "Lawyers for refugees IV"- legal assistance for refugees, financed by European Refugee Fund and state budget funds
  

• "Migrants in Poland- information and legal assistance"- financed by European Fund for Integration third-countries nationals and state budget funds 
• 
  

  Projekt "Migranci w Polsce- informacja i pomoc prawna" współfinansowany jest ze środków Europejskiego Funduszu Uchodźczego oraz budżetu państwa

• The creation of a transnational network of advice and assistance for asylum seekers in a Dublin procedure- financed by European Refugee Fund
• People interested in the Program's activity have an opportunity to hold student internships and conduct volunteer work.

Foreigners seeking legal assistance can contact a lawyer working within the program directly during duty-hours, by telephone or e-mail. They should provide all trial documents issued in their cases as well as other documents significant for their individual case.
