The "WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film" festival, organized since 2001 (until 2005 under the title Human Rights in Film), is currently one of the largest film festivals about human rights in the world.
The festival is a form of widespread public education about human rights and liberties using a very attractive medium of communication - world-class documentary film and report. Its mission is also to promote and disseminate committed film of high artistic quality. The festival is aimed in particular at promoting such cinema from Central and Eastern Europe internationally.
The films organizers are the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, the Public Film Institute and Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw.
The Traveling Festival, which will visit ca. 20 Polish and three Lithuanian cities, is organized in cooperation with various NGOs, academic centers and cultural institutions since 2003 following the international festival in Warsaw, which takes place annually in December.
