This is an in-depth course for activists from organisations working in support of human rights, other watch-dog organisations, as well as for young scientists and social leaders from CIS countries, who have completed the HFHR Summer or Winter School on Human Rights or any other international course, which provided solid, fundamental knowledge about human rights. The course is composed of five two-week training sessions. It covers 480 hours of lectures and workshops on the subject matter of human rights, constitutionalism, the rule of law and democratic systems of government, strategic planning and efficient actions in the public interest (such as e.g. monitoring, legal activities, education - including public education, resolving social conflicts). During the course, the participants pass examinations and write their thesis. One of the sessions is a study-tour, during which the participants have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the activities of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in Hague, and a number of international and local NGOs. The course is completed by the defence of a thesis, which is a detailed project of activities, which should lead to the solution of a particular problem concerning human rights in the participant's home country.
