We welcome you on the website of the program "Raising public awareness and increasing the role of nongovernmental organizations in the scope of spokesmanship and monitoring", subsidized from the budget of the Program "Transition Facility 2004" executed by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.
Our interest is set on the issue of human rights, especially in the context of respecting fair trial standards - established by the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg - in Poland and our aim is to improve these standards. We direct our actions towards individuals who have been wrongfully accused or punished as a result of unfair or careless proceedings.
Our activities concern both law making, as well as its application in practice. Our interest is set on preliminary, judicial and executive proceedings. Supervision of preliminary proceedings relates particularly to pre-trial detention, as the practice of its application in Poland was on many occasions in the past and still is criticized by the European Court of Human Rights.
Furthermore, within the confines of the project, we monitor the law-making process, especially penal procedures, and give our opinions on planned amendments.
